10 Questions every trauma survivor should ask themselves

10 Questions every trauma survivor should ask themselves

I was thinking about the most important questions I have asked myself in this child abuse healing journey, and I thought it might be beneficial to share those with you because when I started asking myself these questions, I felt a massive shift.

I believe that one of the hardest things (this was my experience) in healing is to reflect on what is happening in our lives at this moment. Healing trauma is so much about clarity and intention. I think about this - if we can figure out how we got to where we are in this exact moment, we can create a roadmap to where we want to go.

CPTSD is like being on a sinking ship full of holes, and we take buckets and try to toss the water out when what we should be doing is plugging the holes, so we don't drown. I don't know if that analogy hits anyone else, but the more I think about it, the more I try to identify what holes in my trauma recovery journey need to be filled.

Healing childhood trauma and CPTSD Coach

I know first hand the impact of trauma - ACE score 10. A decade ago, I felt so damn lost in everything, and today, because of doing more trauma healing work than I can even believe sometimes, I feel like I make progress every day, even if, on some days, progress is doing only one thing that challenges what I think I am capable of.

If we have clarity about who we are, we can create the person we want to become and find freedom from our past. I don't think it happens overnight, but I do believe in time that we call can heal. At least that's my hope!
