“If you are going through any trauma right now, or you have been through traumatic experiences in the past, I can’t think of anyone better for you to learn from than Michael. As you read this book, I want you to know that no matter what you’re going through that you are not alone.”
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to wake up in the morning and love yourself? Have you ever thought that no one gets it? Do you often feel like the trauma you experienced still seems to sit with you? Do you wonder if life will ever be worth living? Do you dread that you have to live for another day?
These are such difficult questions to answer, and they are the same questions that I asked myself for years. I hated my life. I hated waking up. I hated that no one understood. And I hated that the worst part of my day was the moment I had to get out of bed. The ramifications of the trauma that I suffered not only took away my will to live but it also led me to two suicide attempts, a drug problem, morbid obesity twice, countless failed relationships, depression, anxiety, self-loathing, and dissociation. Then, I figured out the most important thing that I have ever discovered how to Think Unbroken.
When I decided to write Think Unbroken: Understanding and Overcoming Childhood Trauma I knew that I had to take all of the lessons I have learned, the practices I have created, the knowledge I have gathered, and the tools I have crafted and put them into a practical and adaptable self-education book. I didn't intend to create what is to this point in my life's work in this book. I only aimed to write a simple 10 page eBook that you could read on the go. Then I realized that if I did that, I would be doing a massive disservice to everyone that truly needed help getting out of The Vortex. I have over 30 years of experience in trauma, and to sum that up in 10 pages felt off. So, I dedicated to spending every moment of my day for the last year, creating what I know is the most impactful book in the field of childhood trauma.
Why is Think Unbroken the definitive book for Adult Survivors of Child Abuse? This book was crafted with you in mind. I wrote this for every person who, like myself, has been hurt by those that were supposed to protect us. I wrote this as a manual to understanding the science of the brain and nervous system, how to navigate reframing thoughts, to learn why trauma manifests itself in both physical and mental ways, and how to rebuild yourself. Most books on trauma don't entirely create a scope of understanding. My goal with Think Unbroken is to help you understand your past so that you know how you got to where you are and how you can have the future that you want.
The impact of childhood trauma and abuse can forever alter the course of history. Throughout generations, countless children have been hurt by those that are meant to care for them. Yet, in society once those children turn to adults the impacts of child abuse are often discounted and spoken to with the frame of ‘that was years ago” or “it’s time to get over it.” The reality is that we are at the core a collection of all of our experiences leading up to this very moment. If the childhood trauma survivor’s foundation is built atop a volcano, then sooner or later it will be engulfed. Childhood trauma and abuse is the elephant in the room of societies mental health epidemic, and most people don’t know how to understand the role that trauma has played in their life.
When I sat down to craft the baseline of The Think Unbroken book, I did so intending to create something that would be a testimony to the undeniable will of the human mindset. For generations, the world has been plagued by the ramifications of the effects of Child Trauma, and like millions of childhood trauma survivors, I was stuck in The Vortex. My life in a word was a disaster. I was an addict of undeniable proportions, I was morbidly obese and suffocating under the weight of my past.
Think Unbroken is not only a guide to helping other Trauma Survivors find their way out of The Vortex, but it is also the cornerstone to how I changed my life. I am, in essence, a product of my product, and I believe that Think Unbroken is the key to taking the first steps in overcoming the effects of childhood trauma.
This book will expose you to possibility through mindset, palatable understandings of self, and a step by step guide to discovering out how to place the first piece of the puzzle on the table.
What you will find in Think Unbroken is not just my story, but a reflection of the possibilities that can become a reality when you understand that Mindset is Everything.
Childhood trauma took everything from me, but I took everything back, and so can you.
“THOUGH TRAUMA MAY BE OUR FOUNDATION IT IS NOT OUR FUTURE.”
